ArtWalk 2007-2010 About Mission Federal ArtWalk
Known fondly as the largest fine art festival in southern California, Mission Federal ArtWalk is a free two-day event held each spring. Running for nearly 30 years, the fine arts festival has been counted upon by artists and art lovers alike, to bring together all facets of the arts in San Diego and promote the joy and investment in owning original artwork. Mission Federal ArtWalk has partnered with organizations including the Little Italy Association, the City of San Diego, the San Diego International Airport, the County of San Diego, CCDC, San Diego Museum of Art, the Mingei Museum, the San Diego Fine Art Society and the San Diego Visual Arts Network to create a spectacular event that attracts more than 300 participating artists and 120,000 attendees each year. Mission Federal ArtWalk is an open-air art festival that takes place in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood filling more than 16 city blocks with art and festivities. Mission Federal ArtWalk is San Diego’s largest and best-known art festival featuring some of the finest painting, sculpture, glasswork, photography, music, drama and entertainment from San Diego and Tijuana-based artists. The event was founded nearly 30 years ago by a group of artists and art lovers to bring together all facets of the arts in San Diego and to give individuals the opportunity to own original pieces of art. In 2006, the same team that produces Mission Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy began hosting ArtWalk on the Bay at the request of both artists and art lovers. Held right on the water at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, this open-air gallery held in the fall offers a more intimate experience for attendees.
